Pre-Teens

Gentle, creative sessions for younger children to understand and express grief through storytelling, journaling, and safe dialogue.
Teen Girls Only
(13 to 18yr olds)
A safe circle for girls to unpack grief, anger, silence, and strength — without judgment, and with support from trained Grief-Aware Teencoaches.

A safe circle for boys to unpack grief, anger, silence, and strength — without judgment, and with support from trained Grief-Aware Teen Teencoaches.

Our first session will be an in-person one for those based in East London. We will start with Teen Boys ONLY (ages 13 to 18).
If you are unable to travel to East London, please email us so we can add you to our waiting list. Once we have 9 teens in your area, we will contact all parents to arrange suitable dates and times.
Please note: For any out-of-town session requests, transport and other logistical costs will need to be factored in, which may result in a different session fee.

1. Who is this program for?
This grief support coaching program is for:
Pre-Teens (Boys & Girls) – Grades 5 to 7
Teen Boys ONLY – Ages 13 to 18
Teen Girls ONLY – Currently on waitlist for 2nd intake
2. How much does it cost?
Each session is R950 per teen. The program runs over 6 weekly sessions, followed by a 7th session for the supporting adult(s) in their life.
3. Where are the sessions held?
In-person sessions are hosted in East London, South Africa.
Online sessions (for out-of-town teens) are held via Zoom once we have 9 registered participants in that area.
4. What if I don’t live in East London?
You can join our waiting list. Once there are 9 teens from your area, we will contact all parents to agree on dates and times.
Note: Fees may differ for out-of-town groups due to travel and logistics.
5. What’s included in the fee?
Your R950 fee covers:
✅ Professionally facilitated grief coaching
✅ Stationery and session materials
✅ Light refreshments (for in-person sessions)
✅ Final session for a parent or caregiver
✅ WhatsApp group updates and coaching support
6. Who facilitates the sessions?
Sessions are led by a Certified Teencoach trained in grief support, emotional well-being, and adolescent development. All coaches are supervised by the Mayine Development Institute.
7. How long is each session?
In-person sessions run for 3 hours on Saturdays.
Online sessions run for 90 minutes (Tuesdays or Thursdays).
8. What age or grade must my teen be in?
We work with:
Pre-Teens: Grade 5–7
Teens: Grade 8–12 or Ages 13–18

9. Will the group be mixed gender?
Pre-Teens: Boys & Girls (mixed)
Teen Boys: Separate group
Teen Girls: Separate group (intake will open soon)
10. What info do I need to register?

Who the deceased was to them
Year of the loss
