Scholarship Candidate Welcome

Now that you've
made your decision
here is what happens next.

You have read the conditions. You understand the commitment. This page is your complete guide to the next twelve months. Everything you need — your training timeline, your client recruitment tools, your meeting with Nomveliso, and your payment details — is here in one place.

01 — Your Certification Journey

Twelve months.
One complete practice.

This is not a course you study and then apply. From the moment you begin, you are building. The timeline below shows exactly what happens when — including when your clients start and when your income begins.

Month 1
Foundation — Who You Are as a Practitioner
Orientation to the Nomveliso Mbanga Teencoaching™ methodology. The Five Pillars framework. Indigenous identity as a coaching foundation. Ethics, duty of care, and what it means to work with young people. One live virtual orientation session facilitated by Nomveliso. Your cohort covenant is signed.
Online · Self-paced modules Live orientation session Checkpoint: written reflection submitted
Month 2
Coaching Skills — The Practice of the Conversation
Listening, questioning, and facilitating insight. Goal setting and session structure. Managing resistance, defensiveness, and disengagement in young people. Self-management for the coach: emotional intelligence, triggers, and personal boundaries. Documentation, confidentiality, and referral protocols.
Online modules Bi-weekly virtual sessions Checkpoint: written coaching case submitted
Month 3
Adolescent Development + Client Recruitment Begins
Indigenous theories of adolescent development. Applied coaching for pre-teens (ages 9–12) and teenagers (ages 13–19). Family systems — the context every teen client lives inside. Recognising limits: when to refer. MAE™ framework introduction.

During this month, you begin actively recruiting your 10 clients using the Teencoaching Definition Document provided on this page. Clients do not start paying yet — you are building your pipeline so that they are ready to begin in Month 4.
Online modules + bi-weekly sessions Recruitment begins this month End of Month 3: written case study assessment

Month 4 — Practicum Bridge Opens
Your Clients Begin · Revenue Share Activates
Your coaching practice begins for real. Your 10 teen clients (R950/month each, 12-month contract) activate this month. You begin coaching under supervision. Monthly practicum log submissions begin. Bi-weekly group supervision with your cohort.

Revenue split is now active: your clients' fees go to you, you remit 70% to Mayine by the 5th of each month. Your 30% (R2,850/month) covers your annual practitioners' retreat for the first three months.

Months 5–6
Advanced Teen Methodology + Supervised Practice
Advanced Teencoaching theory and application. The MAE™ framework in full. Coaching across the Five Pillars in live client work. Your supervision deepens from skill-building into practice navigation — real client scenarios, real challenges, real growth.

Around Month 6: your cohort's practitioners' retreat or in-person immersion is scheduled. Date and format confirmed with your cohort upon intake.

Business of Practice + Your Income Begins
Your R2,850/month becomes your income from Month 7 — the retreat fund is complete. Business modules begin: practice setup, client onboarding systems, ethical marketing, pricing your practice, income stream architecture. A midpoint check-in with Nomveliso or your Supervision Lead takes place at Month 9.
Your 30% = income from Month 7 Business development modules Month 9: mandatory midpoint check-in
Months 10–11
Refinement, Assessor Log + Balance Recovery
Supervision shifts to assessor-level review. Practicum log finalisation. Any gaps in your coaching portfolio are addressed. You are preparing for final assessment. The 70/30 remittance continues — your certification balance is approaching clearance.

Month 12 — Final Assessment
CIAT™ Certification Awarded
Three-part final assessment: written case study, live coaching demonstration, and programme presentation. All three must be submitted and approved. Upon successful assessment, you are awarded the Certified Identity-Anchored Teencoach™ credential and transition automatically to MaGICA™ Licensed Associate terms — 40% on Mayine-referred clients, 100% on self-sourced clients.

02 — How Training Is Delivered

Hybrid. Intentional.
Designed for practitioners.

The Nomveliso Mbanga Teencoaching™ certification is not a self-study course. It is a professionally held formation programme delivered across multiple touchpoints. The full schedule is confirmed with your cohort upon intake — what follows is the framework.

Online Modules
Video lessons, readings, and structured reflection exercises hosted on the Mayine Indigenous Academy (Teachable platform). Each module has a submission checkpoint — a written exercise that must be submitted and acknowledged before the next module unlocks. You progress with the cohort, not at your own pace entirely.
Platform access activated once commitment fee is confirmed.
Live Virtual Sessions
Bi-weekly live sessions — two per month — held on Zoom. These are not content delivery. They are integration and application conversations: you bring your real coaching cases, your questions, and your growing practice into the session. Your cohort travels together. Recordings are made available.
Sessions scheduled at intake. Attendance expected. Absences must be communicated in advance.
In-Person Sessions
Your certification includes in-person touchpoints — structured around your cohort's location and schedule. These may include a practitioners' retreat (typically around Month 6) and quarterly half-day intensives where logistics allow. Exact format, dates, and locations are determined with your cohort at intake.
In-person components are built around the cohort. Location and dates confirmed upon acceptance.
Group Supervision
Bi-weekly group supervision with your cohort, facilitated by Engedzani Dzebu (Supervision Lead). This is where your live client work is held, reflected upon, and developed. Supervision is not optional — it is how practitioners become good at what they do.
One-on-One Check-ins
Structured individual check-ins at key points in the journey: your Month 1 orientation call, your Month 9 midpoint with Nomveliso or your Supervision Lead, and your pre-assessment review. These protect your individual progress inside the cohort journey.
03 — Recruiting Your 10 Clients

You start recruiting
in Month 3.

This is not an afterthought. Client recruitment from Month 3 is a deliberate part of your formation. The practitioners who build the strongest practices are those who start having real conversations before they feel fully ready. The document below gives you everything you need to begin.

What Is Teencoaching™? — Your Recruitment Document

A clear, one-page explanation of what Teencoaching is, what a coaching session involves, and what topics are covered. Written for parents and prospective clients — not for practitioners. This is the document you share when you are having conversations about what you do. Download it, personalise your name on it, and use it from Month 3 onwards.
