Parenting Support — Mayine Development Institute

For Parents · Of Pre-Teens, Teenagers & Young Adults

Your child is growing.
So are you.

Whether you are parenting a 10-year-old, a 16-year-old, or a 22-year-old — the need is the same. To stay connected. To parent with intention. To understand who your child is becoming, and who you are in that relationship.

"The parent who knows themselves
gives their child permission
to do the same."

— Nomveliso Mbanga

Our Approach

Instinct-Based
Parenting

Instinct-Based Parenting is the belief that you already carry what your child needs — and that the work is not to add more techniques, but to clear the noise so you can hear your own instinct again. This is an approach rooted in indigenous African wisdom: that parenting is not a performance, it is a relationship. That a child grows best when a parent is grounded in who they are — not in who the school system, social media, or their neighbour tells them to be.

Every offering at Mayine Development Institute is built on this foundation — the Nomveliso Mbanga Teencoaching™ methodology, developed over 30 years of working with African families.

The themes that
run through everything.

These four areas shape the content of every workshop, coaching journey, retreat, and circle. You do not need to know which one applies to you — that is what our intake process is for.

01

Parenting Teenagers

Authority, love, and clarity when everything feels like conflict. Discipline without power struggles. Communication that actually lands.

02

Reconnecting

Restoring trust and rebuilding the relationship when distance, hurt, or disconnection has crept in between you and your child.

03

Blended Families

Navigating the complexity of merged families — step-siblings, co-parenting, new boundaries — without losing the connection you have with your own child.

04

Parenting Young Adults

Shifting from parenting to mentorship. Staying connected while supporting independence. Renegotiating the relationship as your child becomes an adult.

These themes run across one-on-one coaching, workshops, retreats, and parenting circles — matched to your child's developmental stage and your family's specific season.

Begin wherever
you are.

When you are inside, you see that each tree has its place."
